Screens That Perform in Any Light

TrueThrow ALR Screens use angular-reflective and lenticular optical coatings to reject ambient light before it can wash out your image. Standard matte-white and grey screens reflect every photon that hits them — ceiling lights, floor lamps, uncovered windows — directly back at you, crushing contrast and draining colour. ALR surfaces redirect that unwanted light away from the seating zone while reflecting the projector beam straight toward your eyes.

The result is a picture that looks the same whether your overhead lights are at 10% or 100%. Measured contrast ratios improve two to three times over a standard white surface in a lit room, without sacrificing brightness or colour accuracy. Screen gain runs from 0.9 to 1.4 across the TrueThrow ALR range, covering every projector brightness level from modest 2,000-lumen short-throws to flagship 4,000-lumen long-throw installations.

TrueThrow’s ALR lineup covers every projection geometry. Grey Crystal ALR and Black Crystal ALR are angular-reflective surfaces for standard and long-throw projectors sitting 1.5 metres or more from the screen. Fresnel ALR is an optical-grade lenticular surface engineered specifically for ultra-short-throw laser TVs placed 10–30 cm away. Lenticular CLR targets overhead ceiling-light rejection for standard throw distances where recessed lighting is the dominant ambient-light source.

Every surface is precision-tensioned into a rigid aluminium fixed-frame or motorized roller for flat, wrinkle-free projection across the full panel. Sizes run from 84” to 150” diagonal in 16:9 format. Fabric clips in without tools, making future surface upgrades straightforward without replacing the entire installation.

Choose the right ALR surface: Grey Crystal for a dedicated viewing space with some ambient light; Black Crystal for open-plan areas where contrast matters most; Fresnel or Carbon-Black for a laser TV or ultra-short-throw installation; Lenticular CLR when overhead fixtures are the main culprit.
